Wellness Program

The Arco Iris Wellness Program is a requirement of participation in the National School Lunch Program and for reimbursement from the USDA. A copy of the Beaverton School District Wellness Policy is included here.

We encourage our families to choose healthy snacks with minimal packaging for daily snacks. Some ideas for healthy snacks include:

  • Fresh fruit such as bananas, apple slices, grapes. Try something different like pineapple, melon, kiwi. Berries are a favorite.
  • Fruit kebabs
  • Fresh veggies such as carrots, celery, olives. Don’t forget sliced peppers, snap peas, cucumbers
  • Raisin, craisin, or dried fruit packets
  • Fruit Island, Clif, or Annie’s fruit leathers or fruit snacks
  • Unsweetened apple sauce or fruit cups
  • Banana or plantain chips
  • Air popped popcorn
  • Cheese sticks or Tillamoos
  • Whole grain crackers – Triscuits, Rye crackers, Wasa bread
  • Whole wheat pita with hummus
  • Edemame
  • Whole grain cereals
  • Make your own trailmix with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and dried fruits like raisins, apricots, apples, pineapple, or cranberries
