PROTECTION PROGRAM COVERAGE
This program covers the Chromebook/iPad loaned to the student against all accidental damage, theft, vandalism, or loss for one (1) school year. This program does NOT cover intentional misuse, abuse, or neglect by any household members.
This program DOES cover the first incident of loss or damage of a Chromebook/iPad charger. If a charger cord is damaged through normal wear and tear or defect, it will be repaired or replaced at no charge and won’t count as an incident on the student’s Damage / Loss record. For subsequent damage or loss, there will be costs associated:
DAMAGE: If the Chromebook/iPad or charger is accidentally damaged or vandalized, it will be repaired or replaced and will result in the following charges:
LOSS: If a Chromebook/iPad or charger is lost, it will be replaced at no expense to the student or family on the first incident. Subsequent instances of a lost Chromebook/iPad will result in the following fines:
THEFT: If the Chromebook/iPad is stolen, Arco Iris will require that a police report be filed. Fraudulent reporting of theft will be turned over to the local law enforcement agency for investigation. Students making a false report may also be subject to disciplinary action.
REPAIRING OR REPLACING A Chromebook/iPad
If your Chromebook/iPad is broken or not working properly, contact the office. If possible, make sure all data is either on your Google Drive or backed up to an external USB or SD storage device. If a loaner Chromebook/iPad is warranted, one will be issued to the student until their Chromebook/iPad can be repaired or replaced.
Students who are eligible to check out a Chromebook/iPad are automatically enrolled in the Chromebook/iPad Damage and Loss protection program. If a student chooses not to check out a Chromebook/iPad, they will need to remove the fee from their student account by submitting a form to their school office.
A student or family may check out Chromebook/iPads and decline to participate in the Damage and Loss Protection program, with the understanding that they will be financially responsible for the costs of damage to or loss of their Chromebook/iPad. To decline coverage on a checked-out Chromebook/iPad, use this form:

Q: How do I pay the fee to enroll in the Damage/Loss Protection Program?
A: Families can pay by requesting an invoice from the office. You can also call the office for payment.
Q: When should I pay the fee to enroll in the Damage/Loss Protection Program?
A: To enable students to have access to this technology on the first day or week of school, most schools will issue Chromebook/iPads immediately at the start of the school year (or during registration events). It is important that students pay the fee for the Damage/Loss Protection Program as soon as possible to ensure that they are financially protected in the case of damage or loss incident. Students who have not paid the fee are not eligible to be covered by the program benefits listed below.
Q: If I choose to not check out a device, how do I refuse the Device Damage/Loss Protection Plan?
A: If a student chooses not to check out a Chromebook/iPad for whatever reason, the student can have the Chromebook/iPad Damage/Loss Protection Program fee removed from their account by submitting a Refusal of Chromebook/iPad Damage/Loss Protection Program form to their school’s office.
Q: Can I check out a device and refuse the Device Damage/Loss Protection Plan?
A: A student may check out a device and refuse to participate in the Damage/Loss Protection Program; in this case, the student will need to submit a Refusal of Device Damage/Loss Protection Program form and by doing so will assume the full cost of repair or replacement should damage or loss incident occurs.
Q: How would the plan work if the device is accidentally dropped and the damage is such that it needed to be replaced?
A: By enrolling in the Protection Plan, families would not have any out of pocket cost for any damage or replacement repair for the first accident claim.

Q: If I've paid into this plan, what if the power cord is lost?
A: The school will replace the power chord the first time. Subsequent instances will result in the following charges:

A: Yes. The fee is $50/$75 per school year per Chromebook/iPad, up to a maximum of $150 per school year per family.
