Hi! My name is Claire Neely and I am so excited for my second year at Arco Iris! Previously, I lived in Nashville, Tennessee for two years teaching 5th, 7th, 9th & 10th grade math. I also spent a year as a teaching assistant in Charleston, South Carolina at a Montessori middle school, which is where I fell in love with teaching.
Here are some quick facts about me:
- I hated math growing up and never in a million years would've believed I'd be an enthusiastic math teacher one day
- I have one dog named Paul and I love animals
- I have a B.S. in Psychology from Tulane university and an M.S. in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins
As a teacher, I believe in student-driven, inquiry-based lessons, and I base many of my units off of the Brain-Targeted Teaching model, while my lessons are based on Achievement First's open-source curriculum. I believe math should be hands-on, conceptual, and whenever possible, fun.
I am always available for questions, comments, or feedback of any kind from parents, guardians, family members, and students by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
. Don't hesitate to reach out!
