Hello! My name is Tabitha Kanen and I am excited to be part of the second grade team at Arco Iris for the 2019-2020 school year. I was born in Portland, OR and my family moved to Quito, Ecuador when I was four years old. We lived there over the course of 13 years, which is where I became bilingual. I look forward to using my Spanish on a full-time basis in the classroom this year.
I graduated with my Master of Arts in teaching elementary from George Fox University in 2017, substitute taught for seven months, and then taught at a small private school for the 2018-2019 school year. I look forward to collaborating with you and fellow teachers in making 2019-2020 the best year yet.
My goal as a teacher is to meet the needs of the whole child while fostering skills such as perseverance, diligence, perseverance, responsibility, and respect. My classroom will be a place where problems are solved with empathy and students are given the chance to think critically.
When I am not teaching:
- Spending time with friends and family
